Elderfield

The Elderfield
57 Elderfield Rd
Clapton
E5 0LF

The Elderfield is a Victorian pub built in the 1860s with an impressive interior that dates back to a 1935 makeover.

Features to look out for include:

Two thirds height wood panelling
The counter, bar-back and fire surround which share a similar theme
Herring-bone woodblock floor
Veneered doors to the toilets
Original tiling in the gents

In the larger bar, look for markings on the floor that show where there was once a separate compartment.

The Elderfield features on LPGs' Evening Crawl of Clapton and Hackney of April 2014.
