Drayton Arms

The Drayton Arms
153 Old Brompton Rd
Earls Court
SW5 0LJ

The Drayton Arms is a grade II listed, 19th Century building. Re-built 1891-1892, the exterior of the 3 storey, plus roof storey, building is impressive featuringfinely moulded relief decoration.

The interior has been much altered but retains some etched glass, a segmented ceiling, a door lobby, a supporting pillar with a Corinthian capital and, probably from a more recent era, Biba-style decoration in the upper parts of the windows.

In the small area at the back (originally a separate room) there is an interesting Classical fireplace which may be modern. This room could also be accessed via the elegant corridor with its ironwork entrance and large mirror bearing heraldic arms (presumably of the Drayton family) if it were not blocked by a table and chairs. There is a theatre upstairs.

The Drayton Arms features on LPGs' Daytime Crawl of Earls Court, West Brompton, Fulham and Hammersmith of October 2013.
