Resurrections: Daytime Tour of Lambeth, Wandsworth, Barnes, Brentford and Chiswick

PLEASE NOTE: This tour was planned so that rail travel would be the main mode of transport between pubs. However, on 19 February 2022 there are no rail services between Clapham Junction and Barnes so various alternatives are given in the following itinerary.
1. Hercules
Arrive: 12.00 Noon
Address: The Hercules, 2 Kennington Rd, Lambeth, SE1 7BL.
Real ales: The pub is in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide 2022. Five handpumps dispense Fuller’s London Pride; a seasonal Fuller’s ale; a Dark Star ale; one guest ale (usually from a London microbewery); and one real cider.

Directions to next pub:
On leaving the pub, there are two alternative ways of proceeding: one by a mixture of rail and bus; the other by bus only. HERE are the directions for the former. Cross over Hercules Road and then, via the pelican crossing, cross over Westminster Bridge Road. Turn left and walk along Westminster Bridge Road to the junction with Lower Marsh. Turn right and walk along Lower Marsh to the junction with Spur Road. Cross over Lower Marsh, turn left and walk up Spur Road to a flight of steps. Walk up the steps and cross the road. Turn right and walk along past the railings to the entrance to Waterloo station. Catch a train to Clapham Junction station. Alight from the train and, after leaving the station, EITHER catch a rail replacement bus to Wandsworth Town station OR cross over St John’s Hill via the pelican crossing to catch a 87 bus to its terminal stop F (called Wandsworth Plain) – subsequent directions are at the end of this paragraph. IF you get the rail replacement bus to Wandsworth Town station, alight from the bus and walk along Old York Road (on the same side of the road as the Alma pub) in a south-westerly direction to the junction with Fairfield Street. Turn left and walk along Fairfield Street to the pelican crossing. Cross over Fairfield Street, turn left and continue along Fairfield Street to the junction with Wandsworth High Street. Turn right and walk along Wandsworth High Street to the junction with Ram Street. Cross over Ram Street via the pelican crossing to the Ram Inn. IF you decide to catch a 87 bus to its terminal stop F (called Wandsworth Plain), cross over St John’s Hill via the pelican crossing and walk to stop M (called Clapham Junction Station). Catch a 87 bus to its terminal stop F (called Wandsworth Plain). Alight from the bus, turn left and walk along Wandsworth Plain to the junction with Wandsworth High Street. Turn left and walk along Wandsworth High Street to the Ram Inn. HERE are the directions for the bus-only route from the Hercules. Turn right out of the pub and walk along Kennington Road to the junction with Lambeth Road. Cross over Lambeth Road via the pelican crossing, turn right and walk to bus stop H (called Lambeth Road/Kennington Road). Catch a 344 bus to stop E (called Vauxhall Bus Station). Alight from the bus and walk to stop G (also called Vauxhall Bus Station). Catch a 87 bus to its terminal stop F (called Wandsworth Plain). 2. Ram Inn
Arrive: 1.30 PM.
Address: The Ram Inn, 68 Wandsworth High St, Wandsworth, SW18 4LB.
This pub is the official lunch stop. However, for an alternative lunch option, Sambrook’s Brewery Taproom serves pizzas and is very nearby – just turn left out of the Ram Inn and walk along Ram Street to an archway. Go through the archway to Sambrook’s. Also, the next pub on the tour, the Waterman’s Arms, Barnes serves food.
Real ales: The Ram Inn is in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2022. The Sly Beast microbrewery is housed in the pub. Sly Beast 4 Foot 2 London Porter, Beam Engine Bitter and Ram Street Special are normally served here.

Directions to next pub: Normally one would retrace one’s steps to Wandsworth Town station to catch a train to Barnes station but on 19 February 2022 there is no rail service on that route so on leaving the pub, cross over Wandsworth High Street and walk along Garratt Lane to bus stop V (called Southside Shopping Centre). Catch a 220 bus to stop FH (called Putney Bridge Station/Gonville Street). Alight from the bus and walk to bus stop FE (called Putney Bridge Station/Gonville Street). Catch a 378 bus to stop BH (called Barnes High Street). Alight from the bus and walk along Barnes High Street to the zebra crossing. Cross over Barnes High Street, turn left and walk along Barnes High Street to the junction with Lonsdale Road. Walk into
