Lord John Russell
91-93 Marchmont StreetBloomsbury
WC1N 1AL
Although this pub is not a listed building, it is on the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Local Inventory with an interior of local historic interest, and the description is as follows: "Situated in two 19th century buildings – a four-storey one on the left with ‘coaching arch’ to Mews and cut into stone at the top is the word ‘Russell’ and a two-storey one on the right with a balustrade, both of London brick. Has a wooden frontage painted a deep blue colour.
Two exterior doors indicate this originally had two rooms but it is now just a single one with a bare wood floor. It has an old panelled bar counter curved on the right and at a slightly different angle on the left after the curved section so there have been changes (or different as they were in two rooms originally?). The bar back on the right is old with three bays with plain mirrors and shelves held up by pilasters with capitals. Lower shelving looks more modern as does the pot shelf. The left hand two bay bar-back looks more 1960s with glass shelves."
