This inter-war pub is a possible candidate for inclusion on the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Local Inventory of pubs with local historic interest. The main feature of interest is the wonderful surviving Hodgson’s Brewery frontage. The Brewery History Society’s description is as follows: “By Joseph Hill for Hodgson's (Kingston) Brewery, 1930. Unusual art deco frontage with egg-shell glazed faience supplied from Hathern. On the central pediment, a stone scrolled shield - nicely restored - with the brewery's trade mark of a 'K', a cask and three fishes. High on the front elevation on each side, relief lettering - 'HODGSON'S KINGSTON ALES' and 'HODGSON'S KINGSTON STOUT' - but this lettering has been obscured by modern signs.” The pub is locally listed.
