Dover Castle

43 Weymouth Mews,
W1G 7EH

This pub used to be on the London Regional Inventory but when it was reassessed it was felt that there was not quite enough to warrant inclusion on the Inventory. However, the former Regional Inventory description was as follows: “Opened up but retaining a lot of old panelling, a Victorian counter and etched glass. Towards the rear is a separate room entered through a sliding door.” It is a grade II listed building and the listing description is as follows: “Mews public house. Early to mid C19. Stucco faced; slate roof. 2 storeys. 4 windows wide. Pilastered public house frontage to ground floor with central, panelled-riser bar window flanked by panelled and glazed doors; entablature-fascia. 1st floor has sash windows in eared architraves. Crowning stucco cornice and blocking course. Mid C19 "Windsor" lantern on cast iron bracket. Interior retains unaltered bar fittings, shelving; etc.”

The Dover Castle featured on the Evening Crawl of Marylebone in April 2006, and the Auntie's Boozers: Evening Crawl of Fitzrovia and East Marylebone in December 2008.
