Although this pub is not a listed building, it is on the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Local Inventory with an interior of local historic interest, and the description is as follows: "Late Georgian pub with a large early 20th century extension at the rear. This is a pub of two halves - the interior of the Georgian area at the front is entirely modern, while that of the Edwardian area at the rear is largely unaltered. The two areas are now only separated by a wooden beam running across the room on the ceiling, and where sliding doors would once have completely separated the two areas.
The rear area consists of three separately defined spaces marked out by four timber posts carrying gargantuan brackets and timber infills to the side walls. The brackets are decorated with carved marine creatures, featuring mainly seahorses but also include scallops and crabs. There’s lots of early twentieth-century glass in the windows and an attractive colourful inverted glazed dome in the end compartment. The ceiling has anaglypta/Lincrusta style plasterwork decoration of a leaf and flower design. A large fireplace on the left has blue glazed tiles surrounded by some marble, and two pillars holding up a wooden overmantle of three mirrors, the middle one being oval in shape."
