The Cat & Mutton featured on the Genesis: Evening Crawl of Homerton and Hackney in August 2016.

Although not a listed building, this imposing Victorian street-corner pub retains some original features including huge gilded advertising mirrors and two gilded panels in the bar-back saying “Prey Puss do not claw, because the mutton is so raw” and “Prey Puss do not tare, because the mutton is so rare”. The servery has what is probably a modern copper-covered bar counter and “gothic” wooden panels. The counter is probably neither original nor in its original place. Remnants of Charringtons inter-war features remain in the form of the windows, including such phrases as “House of Revelry”. Note also the “Victorian” pillars which may or may not be original.
