Union Tavern

52 Lloyd Baker Street
Clerkenwell
WC1X 9AA

Although this pub is not a listed building, it is a One Star pub on the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) National Inventory with an interior of special national historic interest, and the description is as follows: “Victorian/Edwardian pub still retaining much of its original fittings including a large former publican's office. The inner lobby has a ‘Union Tavern’ mosaic floor. Two floor to ceiling partitions remain with a number of decorative glass panels including some deep cut mirrored panels. The original island bar counter remains and the back fitting (painted brown) has many engraved mirrors. A Victorian water tap remains on the counter, sadly, lacking its handle. Now very much a gastro-pub the left hand side is for dining and has a food counter at the rear. Some original windows and door panels are now in frames on the wall. Good Lincrusta ceiling on right hand side.”
