Sebright Arms
31-35 Coate StreetCambridge Heath
E2 9AG
Although this is not a listed building and is partially opened out, the interior of this two-roomed ex-Hoare & Co’s pub still retains the feel of a partitioned space. The walls are wood-panelled throughout and there are a fine door lobby and bar counter. The ceiling retains its dentilled cornice and is covered in Lincrusta. The stained glass windows are typical of Charrington’s pubs. (Charrington’s took over Hoare & Co.’s pubs). Do not be fooled though by the relatively modern potshelf above the bar counter.
The Sebright Arms featured on the East End Survivors: Evening Crawl of Bethnal Green, Shoreditch and Spitalfields on 13 December 2017.
