Lord Tredegar

50 Lichfield Road
Bow
E3 5AL

This pub is a grade II listed building and the listing description is as follows: “Mid C19. Stock brick with stucco eaves cornice and blocking course, 2 storeys, 4 windows those of lst floor linked above by heavy arched dripstone, and below by stucco sill band. Windows round headed with architraves. Ground floor has arched windows with plain pilasters between. Central doors with engraved glass panels and central, wrought iron, lampholder with modern lamp. Focal point looking along College Terrace from Tredegar Square.”

Inside are an ornate bar-back and a good bar counter. Some of the mirrors have gilded ivy leaves. Delicately carved wooden, mirrored overmantels also adorn the pub’s interior. There is a vintage working juke box too. In the conservatory area leading to the garden is a skylight with what may be original decorative cast iron but definitely modern glass, unfortunately. The garden itself abuts the Great Eastern main railway line.

The Lord Tredegar featured on the Bow Belles - Evening Crawl of Bow on 22 August 2018.
