Catford Bridge Tavern in SE6 re-opens

Monday 10 December 2012

We are very pleased to report that The Catford Bridge Tavern has re-opened as a direct result of campaigning pressure.

The re-opening of the popular pub took place on Friday 7th December

The Catford Bridge Tavern had been featured on the London Pubs Group's crawl of Petts Wood, Bromley, Catford and Forest Hill earlier this year in June. However, the pub's future was later put into severe doubt when planning application was granted to convert the ground floor and basement into a supermarket.

A petition was launched to try and save the pub from losing its history. The petition was signed by 2,000 people and Lewisham Council responded by issuing an Article Four Direction to prevent any change of usage of the building occurring, thus ensuring The Catford Bridge Tavern remained as a public house.
