The Queensbury in Brent at risk of being crushed by new tower block

Monday 17 December 2012

The Queensbury on 110A Walm Lane, Willesden Green is currently fighting off plans to have it turned into a tower block.

The Queensbury is an important part of the community. Located close to Willesden Green tube station, the pub is an attractive and welcoming sight that fits in well with neighbouring local buildings.

Object to plans to replace The Queensbury

Fairview New Homes is planning on demolishing the pub and building a tower block in its place. Campaigning group Save The Queensbury have pointed how an artists impression of the proposed tower block paints a particularly dishonest picture of how the block would appear in its new surroundings.

Just some of the reasons to save The Queensbury:

1. The Queensbury resides in the Mapesbury conservation area -if the artist's impression is anything to go by, the new tower block will stand out like a sore thumb within the locality

2. The Queensbury is a well preserved, well maintained and cared for historic pub

3. The Queensbury is a very active and important hub for the community

4. The Queensbury hosts regular parent, baby and toddler mornings
