A former Charringtons pub with inter-war features. Note the pub is small and often very busy but well worth visiting.

Real ales: Adnams Lighthouse; Fullers London Pride; Harveys IPA; Sambrooks Wandle; Sharps Doom Bar and Youngs Bitter are usually available here.

This slim timber framed pub is thought to date from the 17 century.

Real ales: Nicholsons IPA (brewed by St Austell); Sharps Doom Bar; Truman UK Gold; and Wychwood Hobgoblin are usually on sale here.

Directions to next pub: On leaving the pub, turn right then right again into the subway and leave by the exit for Middlesex Street (Petticoat Lane). 3. Blind Beggar

Named after the legend of the Blind Beggar of Bethnal Green, the current building dates from 1894 and witnessed Ronnie Kray shoot and murder George Cornell.

Real ales: Courage Best; Jennings Beggars Belief (house beer); and Morland Old Speckled Hen are usually served here.

4. White Hart

This corner situated pub was rebuilt around 1900.

Real ales: Sambrooks Battersea Rye and Wandle; White Hart IPA, Irish Red Ale and other beers from the pub's on-site brewery are usually available here.
