Hoop & Grapes

47 Aldgate High Street
Aldgate
EC3N 1AL

This pub is a grade II* listed building and the listing description is as follows: “Probably late C17. Timber framed building of similar appearance to No 46. Ground storey with sash window flanked by doorway under pentice roof - partly old. 2 carved posts at entrance perhaps C17. Large, irregular rear wing, partly rendered and partly boarded. Nos 46 and 47 belong to a type of building once common in London but now very rare.”

Although modernised, this pub’s interior retains a modicum of olde worlde charm.
