1. Kings Head

Arrive: 12 noon
Address: The Kings Head, 65 High St, Bexley, DA5 1AA

Real ales: Greene King Abbot, IPA and Old Golden Hen are usually served here.

Although the next pub on the crawl is the official lunch stop you may wish to eat here as they serve reasonably priced meals.

Directions to the next pub: Turn left out of the pub then left again into Bourne Road. Walk along Bourne Road to bus stop F (called Bexley Library). Catch a 132, 229 or 492 bus to the stop called Mayplace Road West/Bexleyheath Clock Tower. Alight from the bus, turn left, cross over to the Furze Wren (Wetherspoon pub) and continue towards the clock tower and past it to bus stop M. Catch an 89, 96, 422, 486, B11, B12, B14, B15 or B16 bus to the stop called Lion Road. Alight from the bus, turn left and walk to the junction with Lion Road. Turn right into Lion Road and walk down Lion Road.

An ALTERNATIVE route from Bexley Library to the bus stop called Lion Road is to catch a B12 bus all the way to the Lion Road bus stop.

An ALTERNATIVE route from bus stop M to the next pub is to catch a B13 bus to the other end of Lion Road - noting that the Upton Road/Mount Road section is Hail & Ride. Alight from the bus at the junction of Upton Road and Lion Road (it may help to ask the driver to let you know where to get off when you board). Cross the road and walk down Lion Road to...

2. Robin Hood & Little John

Arrive: 1.15pm
Address: The Robin Hood & Little John, 78 Lion Rd, Bexleyheath, DA6 8PF

Real ales: Adnams Broadside and Southwold Bitter; Bexley BOB; Brains Reverend James; Fullers London Pride; Harveys Sussex Bitter; Sharps Doom Bar; and Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay are usually served here.

Directions to the next pub: Walk down Alers Road (noting the corrugated iron dance hall on the right) which then becomes Red House Lane. Continue down Red House Lane (noting Red House itself on the right which Philip Webb completed in 1860 for William Morris) to the junction with Upton Road. Turn left and walk along Upton Road (noting the charming thatched house at number 8) to the junction with Crook Log. Turn right and walk along Crook Log to the bus stop called Upton Road. Catch an 89, 96, 486 or B16 bus to the stop called Guy, Earl of Warwick.

ALTERNATIVELY, if you are not interested in seeing the corrugated iron dance hall, Red House or the charming thatched house, catch a B13 bus from outside the Royal Oak (Hail and Ride section) back to Bexleyheath.
